Wow, what an interesting and fun-filled weekend.

Friday was a raid night. Palace of the Ancient One, for the first named, and Tomb of the Mad Crusader were on the agenda. PotAO went smoothly with the first named dropping with no issues at all, then it was off to TotMC to give that damn snake another try. The result? Thet-em-aua deaded by CD. I really felt that we were going to kill it this time as the previous attempt we had him down to 7%. It was REALLY exciting though, so exciting I don’t remember what he dropped. It wasn’t caster loot though ;)

We were able to reset the zone right after killing the snake, so we reset it and zoned back in to kill the first two named. The Eye Mounted ring dropped. I lost. Still no raid loot for poor Castillion. I had a LOT of sympathy from the guild though when I lost yet ANOTHER roll for loot. Somewhere along the way, I’ve been able to reset my attitude regarding the raid loot and laugh about it again. It’s still frustrating, but it’s back to being funny ;) It’ll happen soon enough.

Saturday is our early raid day and VP was scheduled. We cleared the first wing. We did have an unfortunate event, Sinnir was scheduled to bring her wizard, Dejavu, in for the Druushk kill and her mythical. She accidentally zoned into VP before getting her raid invite and got herself a lockout and missed the kill :( There’s always next time though! She’ll have her second mythical in no time.

Most of Second String took a break Saturday after the raid, so I swapped over to Saynt and Dejavu and I powerleveled Graybone for a while. We managed to get him to 73 in KC before I got so bored of KC I wanted to gouge my eyes out. So, I grabbed up a few of Second String Group 2 (yes, we have a few Second Stringers) and headed to Court of Korucust as it has been a while since I’d been there. The run went very smoothly and it was nice to go back and do an instance that you normally hardly ever visit.

We were still itching for more and we decided to head over to CoA, just as we zoned into Sebilis however, Anep and Sasspanz logged back on. Fark. That leaves us with 8 people, 2 too many for a group. Whatever shall we do? Well, Protector’s Realm is right here. Let’s do it!

Yes, we decided to try PR with 9 people (we picked up Anep’s brother, Theonee, as well):

First group:

Anep – 80 Shadowknight
Sinnir – 80 Templar
Castillion – 80 Coercer
Taylona – 80 Fury
Sasspanz – 80 Assassin
Graybone – 73 Defiler

Second Group:

Rhesus – 80 Warden
Seeb – 80 Brigand
Theonee – 80 Wizard

Pretty much all of the currently active Second Stringers, except Elonias as he wasn’t online. Snappe (80 Warlock) and Aeyanna (80 Troubadour) are both on a game hiatus, taking a break to refresh and enjoy offline life.

Protector’s Realm. 24 person raid zone. A zone I have wiped in numerous times on full raids. We were about to attempt it with 9 people. Times, they are a-changing.

We were able to kill the first 4 named in the zone. Doomcoil proved to be too much for us as Graybone is WAY underlevel for the zone, and some of our other Second Stringers are newly level 80 and have not built up a good level of resist gear yet. So, 2 or 3 people kept dying, which kept healing Doomcoil, which eventually wiped us. I’m pretty sure we can kill him though.

We ended up the raid (can I really call it that? ;) with 4 exquisite chests, which contained one master Taylona won, 2 fabled tank pieces that went to Rhesus’ alt SK, and around 13 – 14 plat each. Not a bad little run really. I’m fairly certain we can one-group the entire zone, but the risk vs. reward for one grouping would only really warrant killing the first 4 named. We’ll still probably clear it once for S.a.G. though.

Sunday, we had plans in-game. Stormraven had sent me a tell while we were clearing PR Saturday night and asked if Sinnir and I, and one other, would be available to help with a Varsoon kill with him. They had cleared all of Palace, but had run out of time before getting the big guy down and we made arrangements to gather on Sunday to get Storm and some of his crew a Varsoon kill under their belts. The group was:

Stormraven (PLP4EVR) – 80 Shadowknight
Sinnir – 80 Templar
Rhyanna – 80 Fury
Castillion – 80 Coercer
Zahrn – 80 brigand
Worknemangel (Anep) – 80 Dirge

It took a few pulls to work out the kill, but we got him down. Worknemangel won the very nice +4 melee crit GVB bracer (which makes up for him losing a roll on it to an Illusionist), and Storm, Zahrn, and Rhyanna were able to complete the TSO Signature quest, which got them a nice fabled cloak and another nice fabled item. Afterwards, we realized that we could reset the timer on Palace, so we did. Then we zoned back in, cleared it and killed Varsoon…again. This time he dropped his robe. Yeah that awesome robe that I got the firs time we killed him. Since I was the only mage in the group, we frantically tried to find one of the mage mains in the guild to come and loot it. We didn’t have any luck however and Dejavu, Sinnir’s Wizard alt, looted it with 2 minutes left on the chest. That officially makes her wizard alt a Super-twink and the most spoiled alt of all of Second-String (Anep/Worknemangel doesn’t count really, as he really runs what I would consider dual mains).

After that, I swapped over to Saynt and tanked a few TSO zones for Second String. We cleared Veksar2, Mystmyr Manor, OoA and AoB to bring a very full weekend to an end.

Tonight, we raid. The target is TBA at the moment, so it’ll be a surprise tonight when I get home ;)
