The Maestro died last night.

It was the first time we had killed him as a guild and the first time I had killed him personally. Man, it was satisfying. I couldn’t begin to count the number of times I have been in Shard of Hate, or the number of times I had looked over at the Maestro after killing the sisters wondering if the day would ever come that he would actually die.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been on raids that have attempted the Maestro, many of them. They usually just end up failing horribly. We’ve pulled him quite a few times as a guild making slow progress. we had him down to 60% on Saturday, so I knew it was doable, but I wasn’t sure we’d get him last night. We pulled him quite a few times, making little headway, until it was time to leave.

Isn’t funny how the words “last pull of the night” tend to get us going? It’s strange but we’ve had several firsts after raid leaders have announced the last pull.

It was magical. we had him to 55% the previous pull, so we were all hoping to at least break the 50% barrier. We did. Dropped his health to 48%, then someone died and he jumped back up to 53%. I think that’s the closest we came to losing it. There was an audible sigh in guild chat when his health went back up over the 50% mark. We powered through though and kept focus and got him back down. The down to 40%, then to 38%…it was beginning to seem doable…then 44%…shit…then 36%..

That’s the way the fight is, up and down, up and down. That was repeated till about 8% when he started to go steadily down and we were all trying our damnedest not to die. Then 2% and Verdict, it was over.

That was probably the most satisfying kill in a long time. It was a real accomplishment getting him down.

He dropped a very nice bard charm item and a leather preist chestpiece but the loot was certainly secondary.

Congrats Dragons!

Gotta love the last pull of the night to finish a mob off!

We have a “Magic hour” which is our last pull time between 11:00pm and 11:15pm. I know it’s really not an hour, but it’s easier to say than “Magic fifteen minutes”
