Is it? Is it really worth it? September 2, 2009

Monday night I finally found time to attend a full raid. We started out with 3 groups….not typically a good thing. I don’t know where all our raiders were, but it’s been a low turnout lately. We started in Ykesha’s Inner Sanctum and I was really thinking we were going to be dying over and over, but boy was I wrong. 3 groups one pulled Strange Stalker and one pulled Kultak the Cruel…awesome!

By this time our raid had filled up to 4 groups and we trotted on over to Tomb of the Mad Crusader and wiped on Thet Em Aua with a full raid…not awesome at all. I swear it oftens feel like two steps forward, three steps back with our raid force. It changes so much.

Anyway, I guess that’s the hazards of raiding and I’m just going to leave it at that. I did sign up for tonight’s raid but it looks like another low turnout night for some reason. Where have all the raiders gone?

Sin and I didn’t log on last night, instead we took Shortpants for some checkups and wound up hitting an Irish Pub to eat afterwards. I had a burger filled with Jalapenos and Pepperjack and it was gooooooddd. I also had a beer or two to wash it down with. They were gooooddddd. You know, I am supposed to be on a diet. We went shopping for clothes this weekend and I was depressed. Then, I have 3 beers and a freaking awesome hamburger and start to wonder if it’s really worth being skinny again ;)

I suppose it is. I know. Get off my ass.

We followed the dinner up with a movie, The Other Boleyn Girl. It was interesting, kinda. The girls did well in their parts, but Eric Bana? Nooooooo…. It’s a good thing you were so awesome in Star Trek sir. A good thing.

The week is halfway over! It’s going nice and fast and I can’t wait for the three day weekend. (and Aion open beta!)

A night off. May 14, 2009

An off night.

When I say off, I mean offline ;)

Sinnir and I went to dinner yesterday and over margaritas decided that we really needed a night off. This has been a rough week between Sinnir and the gnome being sick and me working tons of extra hours for a huge release on Monday and the following fallout that always accompanies such a project. We were just tired and needed a night to reflect and reconnect.

We went and picked up a couple of movies instead. Mama Mia! and Zach and Miri make a porno. Wildly different movies but we thoroughly enjoyed both.

Sinnir had been pestering me for a while to see Mama Mia! and I finally
caved. I know that saying this lowers my testosterone level, but I really enjoyed the movie. It was fun and entertaining. Plus, you get to see Pierce Brosnan sing, which in itself is worth the price of the movie. I would highly recommend it to everyone.

Zach and Miri make a porno is hilarious if you enjoy raunchy comedy. We laughed, a lot. I hesistate to recommend it because it is so…so dirty..then again if you are renting a movie about two people making a porno and are easily offended, someone needs to smack you. I will say if you enjoy belly laughs, full frontal nudity, and potty humor, you’ll enjoy this movie.

So, sorry for missing the raid last night all, but we’ll be back up to our regular antics tonight.

I know, I know. Where’s the damn posts Castillion? Well, talk to my boss and let him know that work is interfering with my blogging and that you don’t appreciate it. Then please send me monthly checks to support my gaming and eating habits after he fires me ;)

While I have been neglecting you, dear readers, I have not neglected my game time. It was a fun weekend.

Friday night was raid night. It sucked. Listen People, just because it’s summertime does not mean it’s suddenly time to “have a life” and “do fun things outside”. We all know that this outside place is imaginary and only exists to provide you with excuses for not raiding. Close your blinds, sit in your computer chair, put your headphones on and forget…..just forget…slip softly into the warm hypnotic glow of your monitor and RAID GODDAMNIT!

Saturday our normal raid into SoH was cancelled, so I spent much of the day powerleveling the Templar, who is now 71. I’m having fun with him and it’s time to start getting his Adept 3’s and soon to twink out his gear. Unfortunately his AA’s are VERY low. I will have to put a lot of work into him to fix it. Oh well. I made a ton running through Kylong Plains, so hopefully it won’t be as bad as I expect once I am done with Kunark and Moors. I think it’s going to be bad though. He’s pretty much 30 – 40 AA below what any of my other characters have been.

Since the SoH raid was cancelled, Second String decided to add it to the list of zones we have grouped. Well, kind of grouped, as we took 8 people in.

Anep – 80 SK
Taylona – 80 Fury
Sasspanz – 80 Assassin
Sinnir – 80 Templar
Castillion – 80 Coercer
Seeb – 80 Brigand
Graybone – 78 Defiler
Aeyanna – 80 Troubadour
Rhesus – 80 Warden (boxed by Seeb)

We were able to kill the first two named in there without much issue and got Master P to 70%. That was a bummer as I want that damn HoDD from him already. Master P is a tough nut to crack with basically one group, but I think we could do it with two groups. We are going to try it.

Sinnir and I then took off for a few hours to go to the Mall of America to celebrate Mother’s Day. If you’ve never been to the Mall of America, I envy you.

The Mall outing was just a precursor to the night’s events. Saturday was our in-game celebration for my birthday. We headed to Ward of Elements, which seems to be our new favorite zone to do while drunk. Unfortunately we were short people as my recruiting message of “Hey, we’re doing WoE and have 4 spots open. We would like at least one more healer, but please be aware that we are going to get really drunk and probably die a lot” did not garner much response. So, we did it with 8 people and managed to kill everything but the fire room and the library. Except, maybe we did kill the mob in the fire room, it’s fuzzy. We determined that, due to circumstances beyond our willpower to control, we would not be able to advance any further into WoE and we ported over to PR and cleared it.

Sunday was a little calmer as you can imagine and Sinnir and I called it an early day and went to see Star Trek. It. Was. awesome. I highly recommend seeing it, whether you’re a Trekkie or not.

That was followed up with raids last night. It was a complete reversal of Friday night’s fiasco and we had a great raid force and managed to kill all the easy TSO stuff in preparation for the rest of the week.

It’s shaping up to be fun!

No EQ2 last night at all. Sinnir and I took the night off and watched Rose Red. Ohhhhh….scaaarrryy….

Sin isn’t much into scary movies….at all…so it was nice to sit down and watch a kind of scary movie with her. Scary in the sense of “hey this is a TV miniseries”, but still….well, Ok IT¬†was a TV miniseries as well and it scared the beejeezus out of me as a kid. I give her props for watching a scary movie at all. Maybe now we can move into something truly scary..

What’s a good scary non-gore movie? Gore doesn’t really scare me, it just makes me sick to my stomach which is not really the same thing as a good scream. Ghost stories really have the most effect on me personally. A good suspenseful ghost story will have me turning the hall light on to go to the bathroom for the next week. The Changeling, for example, had me taking showers for quite a while. I also liked The Blair Witch Project.

I guess to me movies with an unknown threat or unknown terror, or something that could be real, scare me the most.

We’ll be back in game tonight though as it’s raid night. I believe Trakanon is on the agenda, at least it’s planned. I am looking forward to putting some time in on him and eventually kicking his scaly ass. It’s not just for the loot, although Trak loot is still great loot, it’s also for the satisfaction of killing him. I’m sure it’s going to take us some time to get the encounter down, but a little hard work and dedication he’ll be deaded.

Thursday I think we’ve finally decided to put some Second String time in and I hope we can get together and have some laughs and run some instances. We’ll see how it goes and I’ll keep you informed!
